This week i attended Andrew brooks Exhibition ‘New worlds ‘ @ the Hive in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
I have previously seen his work at the Urbis a couple of years ago and his name continually crops up in my photography course at the Whitworth art gallery so i was very excited to go.
The one thing i noticed was that these photographs have been printed on very thick paper, like water colour paper which takes away detail and enhances colour.Andrew edits a lot of his photos with photo shop, almost undetected.Using a technique called stitching he can create new worlds. There is also a book to go with the exhibition about his most recent works.
My favourite photo was Possum Valley,(see above) I almost feel like i have been there before when i was in Australia. It is now in my room in a gold frame which compliments it well. Its on till 03.03.11 go!!
